The National Bank Travel Card from National Bank of New Zealand is a pre-loaded card with the local currency, so when you can spend your money overseas, and live, like a local. The National Bank Travel Card is available in 4 currencies – Australian Dollars, US Dollars, Euros and British Pounds. When you load your National Bank Travel Card you’re locking in the exchange rate, so you don’t need to worry about the exchange rates fluctuating while you’re overseas.

The National Bank Travel Card is the smart new way to take your money overseas. No travellers’ cheques, no exchange rate worries, no unexpected charges – just a card pre-loaded with either Euros, Pounds Sterling, American or Australian dollars. National Bank Travel Card lets you take advantage of the exchange rate. Once you’ve purchased and loaded your National Bank Travel Card with foreign currency, you won’t be affected by fluctuations in exchange rates. Unlike debit or credit cards, it is easier to manage your spending while you’re travelling with The National Bank Travel Card. You can set your spending budget and know exactly how much you’re spending. Unlike debit or credit cards, you’ll know the balance of your National Bank Travel Card in the currency that you’re spending in.

National Bank Travel Card is a Martercard. You get the convenience of cash with the security of MasterCard®. When you purchase a National Bank Travel Card, you will be given two cards just in case something happens while you’re away. If you lose the first card or it’s stolen, you can still use the other card to access your money. So you don’t have to wait for a replacement card.

Using Your Travel Card

You can use your travel card at more than 25 million locations worldwide where Mastercards are accepted. For shopping, you can use your National Bank Travel Card just like a credit card. You’ll need to select ‘credit’ before entering your PIN into the EFTPOS terminal. Because your card has a chip, retailers may insert your card and keep it in the EFTPOS terminal while you enter your PIN and the transaction is processed. Or you can cash withdrawal at the ATM near you, wherever you are. Your Travel Card is a MasterCard®, so you have access to the world’s largest ATM network. You can still use your National Bank Travel Card for purchases in currencies other than your card’s currency. Transactions that aren’t in your card’s currency will be converted at the applicable currency conversion rate and will be subject to the Currency Conversion Fee.

Where to Purchase

The National Bank Travel Card can be purchased or topped up at any one of the National Bank’s 165 branches (excluding weekends and public holidays).
