Barclays International Trade Services

barclays international tradeInternational trade can be profitable, but it also involves risks. Exporters must ensure that they receive payment for the goods they provide and importers must receive the goods for which they paid. With its specialist business, Barclays offers a range of solutions to help you manage risks, negotiate credit and success of your negotiations.

Barclays responds to three key issues concerning international trade transactions:

  • Barclays is an intermediary for the regulations, especially for International Settlements, and offers a high level of security.
  • Using documentary credits and documentary collections you are guaranteed to receive the goods. As part of the documentary credit, Barclays ensures that the documents meet your requirements before funds are collected.
  • Transactional risk profile and a lower payment security stronger, give you access to financing your transaction cycle (and that of your trading partner) more efficiently and faster.

Services

  • Documentary credit export. An export letter of credit is a guarantee of payment. It is issued by a foreign bank on behalf of your buyer for you, and you will be notified by Barclays. Ask for Barclays ‘confirm’ the letter of credit protects you against the risk of non-payment of the foreign bank or country risk. It is possible to obtain funding from the presentation of compliant documents and the due date payment.
  • Import Documentary Credit. Import documentary credit is a means of payment. It is issued by Barclays on your behalf and notify your foreign suppliers. The payment to your supplier is secure as long as it meets the conditions you specified in the credit. The import documentary credit gives you the opportunity to negotiate Incoterms and other terms of business, which is particularly useful with new suppliers.
  • Documentary Collections Export. The export documentary collection is a simple and effective way to collect payment for your goods exported to foreign customers. Transport documents allowing access to the goods exported (eg a bill of lading) are sent to the bank with your buyer an invoice, the order of receipt and a bill of exchange drawn on your buyer.  The documentary collection also allows you to secure, to some extent, your transactions with new business partners.
  • Import Documentary Collections. The import documentary collection is a simple and effective tool to adjust your trade receivables. Documents allowing access to goods purchased will be sent us by your provider, through its bank. It is, in general, an invoice and a bill of exchange drawn on you.
